COLOMBIA

Well-regarded boutique Lopez & Asociados Abogados displays ‘profound knowledge in all labour-related matters’ and boasts the largest employment practice in the country with 76 lawyers, including five partners. Juan Pablo López, Angelica Carrión and Alejandro Castellanos head the practice, with Rocío Lagos and Ana Rubiano also in key roles. The team recently represented Coviandes in an inspection process initiated by the nation’s Payroll and Pension Management Unit (UGPP), reducing by 94% the obligations initially imposed by the entity. The practice advised Nutresa on a protection-of-rights case before the Constitutional Court in which a union official claimed the right to due process, and the right of association and intimacy, after a disciplinary process stemming from statements made on a social media platform; the court declared that there was no violation of the right to privacy. Other notable mandates included assisting UT CAPITAL on reaching a collective bargaining agreement with two unions. Clients include Avianca, Citibank, Sodimac and Hotel Grand Hyatt.
